Afghanistan’s Big Win Over Australia in T20 World Cup

Kingstown [Saint Vincent], June 23: Afghanistan’s cricket team, led by Rashid Khan, achieved a historic 21-run victory over Australia in the T20 World Cup. Rashid Khan expressed immense pride and happiness for his team’s performance, highlighting key players like Gulbadin Naib, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Mohammed Nabi.

Australia, after winning the toss and opting to bowl, faced a strong opening partnership from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60 runs) and Ibrahim Zadran (51 runs), leading Afghanistan to a total of 148/6 in 20 overs. Despite a hat trick by Pat Cummins and a fine spell from Adam Zampa, Australia struggled in their run chase.

Naveen-ul-Haq’s impressive bowling (3/20) and Gulbadin Naib’s match-winning spell (4/20) were crucial in reducing Australia to 127 runs in 19.2 overs. Glenn Maxwell’s efforts (59 runs) couldn’t save Australia from their first-ever loss to Afghanistan in international cricket.

Gulbadin Naib was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance. With this win, Afghanistan is now third in their group, while Australia is second. Both teams have two points each. Afghanistan’s chances of advancing depend on their next match against Bangladesh and India’s performance against Australia.
