Manohar Lal Khattar, who served as Haryana’s Chief Minister for 9.5 years, was succeeded by Nayab Singh Saini, who is leading the BJP in the elections. Notable figures like wrestler Vinesh Phogat have joined Congress, adding to the election’s prominence. The JJP-ASP alliance is contesting all 90 seats, with JJP fielding candidates in 70 and ASP in 20. In the previous 2019 elections, BJP formed a coalition government with JJP, which later dissolved.
