Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 15: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that problems cannot be solved by deceit. This comment came after Banerjee’s surprise visit to a protest site to meet junior doctors and her proposal to hold a meeting at her residence to hear their demands. The meeting was called off because Banerjee refused to do a live telecast, citing ongoing legal proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Speaking at a press conference, Chowdhury said Banerjee lacks the courage to address the demands of protesters at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. He accused her of trying to maneuver around the issue but predicted she would not succeed. Chowdhury stated, “If someone thinks that we will solve the problem with this deceit, then it is not a solution; rather, it is a substitute for a solution and at the most, it creates complications. We are well aware of the tactics Mamata ji was using yesterday.”

Banerjee requested the doctors to cooperate and assured them that a recording of the meeting would be provided. She said, “I assure you that whatever recording will be done, it will be given to you. Accept my request and join the meeting. If you people do not want to come to the meeting, then please come inside the residence, have tea and then proceed to leave.”

On a different note, Chowdhury commented on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement that he would resign from his position after two days. Chowdhury said, “It is his will; if he can be the CM in the jail, he can remain the CM outside as well. Maybe there are other matters that are more serious that need to be addressed.”

Kejriwal stated that he would not sit on the chair of CM until the public of Delhi declares him “honest.” He mentioned that if the public votes for him, it will be a certificate of his honesty and he would ask for early polls along with the state of Maharashtra.
