Adani Group to Provide 11 Lakh Saplings for Indore’s Green Drive in Madhya Pradesh
The Adani Group is partnering with the Madhya Pradesh government to provide 11 lakh saplings for Indore as part of its pledge to plant 100 million trees by 2030. This initiative is part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, aiming to plant 1.4 billion trees across India.
The green drive was conducted from July 7-14, 2024, and aligns with India’s sustainability goals. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya have pledged to plant 5.5 crore trees across 55 districts in the state.
The Adani Group’s commitment includes planting 29.52 million trees, which they have already pledged to conserve. This effort is part of the World Economic Forum’s ‘Trillion Trees Platform’ on 1t.org, making it one of the most ambitious corporate commitments to date.
India’s sustainability goals also include the Panchamrit pledge made at COP26 in 2021, which aims to reach 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity, generate half of all energy requirements from renewables, reduce emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2070.
