Adani Energy Solutions Acquires Khavda Phase IV Transmission Project in Gujarat

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has announced the acquisition of the Khavda Phase IV Part-A transmission project in Gujarat. This project was awarded by REC Power Development and Consultancy and aims to evacuate 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) park.

The Khavda IVA Power Transmission project will connect 765 kV double circuit lines from Khavda to Lakadia and Khavda to Bhuj, setting up a transformation capacity of 4,500 MVA. This project is part of the National Grid and will play a crucial role in India’s energy transition.

Khavda, the world’s largest renewable energy park, has a planned generation capacity of 30 GW. The project will help in India’s decarbonization journey by providing the necessary infrastructure for clean energy evacuation.

Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer of AESL, stated, “As the world’s largest renewable energy park, Khavda demands power evacuation infrastructure that is not only world-class but also resilient and future-ready. This investment will establish the critical transmission network required to evacuate the planned 30 GW of green power that Khavda will generate, providing much-needed grid stability.”

AESL won the project through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and will commission it in the next 24 months on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The company will invest approximately Rs 4,091 crore to build the 298 km transmission project, which includes setting up 300 MVAr STATCOM and 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Inter-connecting Transformers (ICTs) with 1×330 MVAr, 765 kV and 1×125 MVAr, 420 kV bus reactors.

Doubts Revealed
