Actor-turned-politician Vijay, also known as ‘Thalapathy’, is set to lead his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), in its first state-level conference. The event will take place in Vikravandi V Salai village, Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, just before the Diwali festival.

Preparations and Arrangements

Massive arrangements have been made for the conference, with party flags and banners displayed from Tambaram to the venue, 90 km away. The event will be held on 85 acres of land, featuring a stage designed like the Tamil Nadu Secretariat. Vijay will hoist a flag on a 101-foot pole, and a ramp is being constructed for him to walk among supporters. Various volunteer teams are coordinating the event.

Party Ideology and Expectations

Vijay’s party aligns with left-leaning Dravidian leaders and Tamil Nationalism. The venue features banners of social reformers and historical figures. Vijay has addressed critics, emphasizing the party’s potential for success. He has urged party members to maintain discipline during the conference, which is expected to draw a large crowd.

Political Context

Vijay announced his entry into politics and the formation of TVK in February. The party aims for success in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. While DMK remains silent, AIADMK acknowledges the democratic right to form a party, and BJP criticizes Vijay’s ideology.
