Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 28: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay criticized the DMK government for allegedly failing to control drug use in the state. He questioned whether leaders with good education should enter politics and stressed the need for good leaders and leadership qualities.

Speaking at an event after felicitating students, Vijay said, “We need good leaders. Leaders in the sense I am not saying politically. Whatever you are doing, you need leadership quality that is what I am saying.”

He added, “Even politics should be a career option in future. That is my wish. Do you think with good education leaders should come to politics?”

Vijay urged students to cross-check information from social media and mainstream media, saying, “See everything but analyze what is right and wrong. Then only one can understand the real issues of our nation, and people and be able to understand social evils.”

Expressing his concern over drug use among youngsters in Tamil Nadu, Vijay said, “In recent times in Tamil Nadu, drugs have become familiar among youngsters. As a political leader and as a parent even I am scared. We can say controlling drugs is the government’s responsibility, saving youngsters is the government’s responsibility and the present ruling government has failed to do that.”

He concluded by encouraging students to take an oath against drugs, saying, “More than the government we have to take care of ourselves. Please all repeat. Say no to drugs. Say no to temporary pleasure. Take this as an oath.”
