ABVP and NSUI Compete in Exciting Delhi University Student Elections

New Delhi, September 27: The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections concluded on Friday with tight security across various colleges and departments. The main contenders were the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the left-wing All India Students’ Association (AISA), and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI).

ABVP’s Confidence

Yagywalkya Shukla, National General Secretary of ABVP, expressed strong confidence in their candidates. He stated, “The way the feedback of our workers is coming, in this election, students are extending great support to all 4 candidates of ABVP. ABVP will defeat NSUI on all 4 posts.”

NSUI’s Optimism

NSUI National President Varun Choudhary also expressed confidence, saying, “We are confident that the DUSU election will be in our favour and result in a 4-0 win for NSUI. We have a clear roadmap of action for Students’ Welfare, which we will unveil tomorrow at a presser.”

Previous Election Results

In the 2023 elections, ABVP won three out of four central panel seats, including the presidential post. Tushar Dedha of ABVP was elected president, while NSUI’s Abhi Dahiya was chosen as vice-president.

Election Day

More than 1.45 lakh students cast their votes at the North and South campuses of Delhi University. The Delhi High Court halted the counting of votes until public property defaced by posters and graffiti is restored. The results are scheduled to be released on September 28.
