Abu Dhabi Hosts 5th IMMAF Youth World Championships

The 5th IMMAF Youth World Championships kicked off today at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. The event, which runs until August 10, 2024, is held under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation for the third consecutive year, the championships feature over 800 athletes from more than 45 countries. Competitors are divided into three categories: Youth C (12-13 years), Youth B (14-15 years), and Youth A (16-17 years).

The UAE National Team, which ranked first among Arab teams and fourth overall last year, is participating again. Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his support of UAE sports. He also thanked Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his patronage and guidance.

Al Hashmi emphasized that the leadership’s support is crucial for the event’s success and serves as a powerful motivation for young athletes. He noted that Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the championship for the third consecutive year reflects the trust and confidence it has earned from the global sports community.

The opening ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Sultan bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation, and Kerrith Brown, President of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
