Abrar Ahmed Aims to Shine as Pakistan’s Main Spinner in Test Series Against Bangladesh
Abrar Ahmed is determined to establish himself as Pakistan’s main spinner ahead of their two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Despite being included in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, Abrar did not play any games. He will return to the red-ball format for the first time since July 2023, having last played against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The series will begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi. Abrar expressed his ambition to become the team’s main spinner and hinted at showcasing new deliveries in the upcoming matches. He said, “I am trying to become the main spinner of the team. In terms of deliveries, I try to do something different, and it could reflect in the upcoming games.”
Abrar has had limited appearances for Pakistan and is keen to make a mark to be considered for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. He acknowledged that his participation in the Champions Trophy would depend on the team management’s decision, stating, “It is up to team management whether I play in the Champions Trophy or not. On my end, I have to work hard.”
The second Test will be held from August 30 to September 3 in Karachi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that spectators would not be allowed during the second Test due to ongoing renovations at Karachi’s National Stadium.
