As India gets ready for the first T20I match against Bangladesh in Gwalior, all eyes are on the young and talented Abhishek Sharma. The T20I series, consisting of three matches, will also take place in Delhi and Hyderabad on September 9 and 12.

Abhishek, 24, had an outstanding Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, scoring 484 runs in 16 matches with an average of 32.26. He hit three half-centuries, with his highest score being 75 not out, and maintained a strike rate of 204.21. Notably, he smashed 42 sixes, the most by an Indian in a single IPL season.

International Success and Record-Breaking Strike Rate

Following his IPL success, Abhishek was selected for the Zimbabwe tour, where he played a five-match T20I series. Although he scored 124 runs in four innings, he showcased his power-hitting skills by scoring 100 runs in just 47 balls during the second T20I. This year, in 21 T20Is, he has accumulated 608 runs with a strike rate of 197.40, including a century and three fifties.

Changes in India’s T20I Squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Shivam Dube is ruled out of the series due to a back injury, with Tilak Varma named as his replacement. Tilak will join the team in Gwalior ahead of the opening match.
