Abhay Singh Wins Two Titles at Asian Squash Doubles Championship 2024

Abhay Singh, an Indian squash player, achieved remarkable success at the Asian Squash Doubles Championship 2024 held at the Arena Emas in Johor, Malaysia. He won two titles: the mixed doubles and the men’s doubles.

Mixed Doubles Victory

Abhay Singh teamed up with Joshna Chinappa, a four-time World Doubles Championships medallist, to win the mixed doubles title. They defeated Hong Kong China’s Tong Tsz Wing and Ming Hong Tang 2-1 (11-8, 10-11, 11-5) in the final. In the semi-finals, they overcame Hong Kong China’s Cheng Nga Ching and Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew 2-0 (11-8, 11-10).

Men’s Doubles Triumph

In the men’s doubles event, Abhay Singh partnered with Velavan Senthilkumar. The Indian pair, seeded first, dominated Malaysia’s Ong Sai Hung and Syafiq Kamal in the final, winning 2-0 (11-4, 11-5). All their victories in the tournament were in straight games.

Other Achievements

Earlier this year, Abhay Singh won the Goodfellow Classic and the Willingdon Masters squash titles. At the Asian Games last year, he won a mixed doubles bronze with Anahat Singh, who did not compete in Malaysia.

Women’s Doubles Event

In the women’s doubles event, India’s Rathika Suthanthira Seelan and Pooja Arthi Raghu were seeded fifth but did not compete.
