Aaron Rai and CT Pan Lead John Deere Classic at Midway Stage
England’s Aaron Rai and CT Pan from Chinese Taipei are leading the John Deere Classic at the halfway point. Both golfers shot impressive bogey-free rounds of 8-under 63, putting them at 14-under.
Aaron Rai’s Performance
Aaron Rai, whose grandparents are of Indian origin, shot another bogey-free round of 8-under 63. Rai is looking for his first PGA Tour win after several close calls. He was born in Wolverhampton, UK, and his mother grew up in Kenya before migrating to the UK.
CT Pan’s Performance
CT Pan, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, also shot a flawless 8-under 63. Pan holed out from 32 yards for an eagle and posted his best score of the season. He is aiming to build on his sole PGA Tour victory at the 2019 RBC Heritage.
Other Notable Performances
England’s Harry Hall is two strokes behind the leaders, while Korean star Sungjae Im is tied for fourth. Kevin Yu from Chinese Taipei delivered an impressive 63, improving 57 places for joint 10th. Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and S.H. Kim of Korea also made it to the weekend rounds. Two-time John Deere winner Jordan Spieth made the weekend with rounds of 69-67.
