AAP Protests Outside LG Office After Mother and Son Drown in Delhi Drain

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest outside the LG Secretariat Office in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of LG Vinai Kumar Saxena. This protest comes after a tragic incident where a woman and her son drowned in an open drain in Mayur Vihar Phase-III on August 1.

AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta stated, “A mother and her child died after falling into a DDA drain, DDA is completely under LG. The LG and DDA are responsible for the death of mother and son.” She further criticized the LG for not handling the responsibilities of law and order and the DDA.

AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar echoed similar sentiments, urging the LG to take action against the guilty officers of the DDA and to resign. He said, “Due to the negligence of LG’s DDA, a mother and son died after falling into a drain. LG sahab, take action against the guilty officers of DDA and resign yourself.”

On the other hand, the LG Secretariat issued a statement claiming that the drain in which the drowning occurred belonged to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which is under AAP’s control. The statement mentioned that the drain was neither de-silted nor covered.

Delhi Environment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai criticized the Centre and called for action against DDA workers, questioning the silence of BJP workers on the issue.
