Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj conducted a surprise inspection at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in New Delhi to check the hospital’s readiness for dengue and monkeypox infections.

Monkeypox Case Confirmed

During his visit, Bhardwaj confirmed that one case of monkeypox has been identified in a patient who was traveling abroad. The patient is currently stable and has been isolated in the Disaster Management Ward.

Ongoing Inspections

Bhardwaj mentioned that he will continue to conduct surprise inspections at other hospitals to ensure they are prepared for dengue and monkeypox.

Union Health Secretary’s Advisory

Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra issued an advisory to states and union territories, outlining precautionary actions, symptoms, and causes of monkeypox, which has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the WHO. The advisory emphasized the need for isolation facilities and the dissemination of guidelines for managing monkeypox.
