AAP Leader Saurabh Bharadwaj Accuses BJP of Backing Out on Bus Marshals’ Recruitment
In New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not fulfilling its commitments regarding the recruitment of bus marshals. Bharadwaj claims that the BJP is avoiding the issue, despite the AAP and Congress taking action. He specifically questioned BJP leader Vijender Gupta about the delay in issuing an official order for the recruitment.
Bharadwaj highlighted that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi, VK Saxena, had accepted the Delhi Government’s order to induct bus marshals, but the BJP has not followed through. He criticized the BJP for betraying 10,000 bus marshals and the people of Delhi, despite promises made by Vijender Gupta.
On Saturday, Bharadwaj and other AAP leaders were detained by the Delhi Police while protesting outside the LG’s residence. They were demanding the regularization of bus marshals and civil defense volunteers. The AAP alleges that the BJP has stepped back from its promise after the Chief Minister Atishi-led cabinet passed a resolution in the assembly.
The BJP, however, stated that the LG met with bus marshals and assured them of positive consideration. The meeting was facilitated by State President Virendra Sachdeva. Delhi CM Atishi pointed out that the issue falls under service matters managed by the LG, and the BJP is not pressuring him to act.
The bus marshals have been protesting for reinstatement after their services were terminated by the LG in October last year.
