AAP Leader Harsharan Singh Balli Joins BJP
In New Delhi, Sardar Harsharan Singh Balli, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi Minister, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The event took place in the presence of Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva, along with Subhash Arya and Subhash Sachdeva. Balli’s son, Sardar Gurmeet Singh ‘Rinku’ Balli, also joined the BJP.
Balli’s return to the BJP marks nearly four years since he left the party in January 2020 to join AAP, alongside then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Balli previously served as an MLA from the Hari Nagar assembly constituency from 1993 to 2013 and was the Industrial Minister during Madan Lal Khurana’s government in Delhi.
Political Tensions Over Air Pollution
Recently, tensions have risen between the AAP government in Delhi and the BJP over increasing air pollution in the city. Two weeks ago, Delhi BJP leaders protested against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at Kapurthala House, citing 108 incidents of stubble burning in Punjab. A delegation sought to meet the Punjab CM to submit a memorandum but was unable to do so. Delhi BJP president Sachdeva highlighted that 108 cases of stubble burning were reported in Punjab on October 26, while Delhi ministers often blame neighboring states Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
