New Delhi, June 29: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file false cases against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

On Saturday, the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi sent Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody until July 12 in connection with the excise policy case. Dilip Pandey, addressing a press conference, said, “Even angels who speak the truth in this era will be killed. Everyone is seeing the misuse of agencies like ED and CBI by the BJP. The decision in the Hemant Soren case has slapped ED. The BJP is misusing the system by filing baseless fake cases to keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail. AAP’s legal team is fighting this case.”

Pandey also criticized the BJP over the collapse of a canopy at Delhi Airport, claiming that the quality of the project was compromised. He mentioned similar incidents in Ayodhya, Jabalpur, and Rajkot, questioning the safety and quality of these projects.

On Friday, heavy rain caused a portion of the canopy at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 to collapse, resulting in one death and several injuries.

Advocate DP Singh, representing the CBI, argued that Arvind Kejriwal did not cooperate with the investigation during his police custody remand. The CBI accused Kejriwal of giving evasive replies and not providing a proper explanation regarding the enhancement of profit margins for wholesalers under the new Excise Policy of Delhi 2021-22. The CBI also alleged that Kejriwal evaded questions about meetings and illegal gratifications related to the policy and the transfer of money for the Goa Assembly Elections.

The Delhi High Court recently stayed Kejriwal’s bail order, stating that the trial court should have recorded its satisfaction with the conditions of section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before passing the order.
