AAP Gets New Office in Lutyens Delhi for Three Years

The Central Government has temporarily allotted a bungalow in Lutyens Delhi to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for office space for three years. This decision follows a Delhi High Court order that set a timeline for the Centre to decide on AAP’s request. The current office at Rouse Avenue must be vacated by August 10.

High Court’s Decision

On July 16, the Delhi High Court granted the Centre ten days to decide on AAP’s request for temporary office space. Justice Sanjeev Narula refused the Centre’s request for four weeks and emphasized the urgency of the matter.

Background

Previously, the High Court had granted six weeks to decide on AAP’s request. The court highlighted that AAP is entitled to use a housing unit as a temporary office until a permanent location is secured. Justice Subramonium Prasad noted that the pressure on available housing should not prevent AAP from receiving temporary accommodation.

Future Steps

The High Court directed the Central Government to provide a detailed order on AAP’s request. The court also noted that AAP had previously rejected offers for permanent office plots in Saket, but this should not affect their entitlement to temporary office space.
