AAI Begins Construction of New Parking and Waiting Lounge at AIIMS New Delhi
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started building a new parking and patient waiting lounge at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. This project is part of AAI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with a budget of Rs 11.73 Crore.
Project Details
The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony took place on October 17, 2024, attended by Shri M. Suresh, Chairman of AAI, Shri Karan Singh, Additional Director Administration at AIIMS, and AAI Board Members. The facility will be located near Gate No. 2 at AIIMS, aiming to reduce congestion and provide space for patient attendants and parking.
Facility Features
The facility will cover 1,650 square meters, with a ground floor of 850 square meters for a waiting hall, reception, and parking for 55 cars. The first floor will have additional waiting space for 470 people, vending machines, and washrooms. Modern amenities include food and coffee vending machines, a helpdesk, TV screens, an announcement system, and a feedback redressal system. Security features include CCTV cameras and an ATM with 24/7 monitoring. A solar PV system will be used to reduce energy consumption.
Completion and Impact
The project is expected to be completed in 12 months, significantly improving infrastructure at AIIMS and enhancing the experience for patients and staff. AAI’s CSR initiatives continue to support community welfare projects, contributing to social and public welfare.
