Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 26: Aaditya Thackeray, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), launched a strong criticism against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde due to severe waterlogging in various parts of the state. Thackeray stated that just half an hour of rain exposed the government’s inefficiency, leading to terrible conditions in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.

Thackeray said, “Yesterday, the Chief Minister gave out a statement that he would make Mumbai pothole-free but just half an hour of rain exposed him. Various places received heavy rains and some witnessed minimal, and it got waterlogged. One person died. Nobody cares about Mumbai.”

He added, “The situation in Mumbai, Pune, Thane was terrible. A lot of citizens yesterday were stuck in traffic. The situation at metro stations was bad. One of the metro stations started leaking. Nobody from the regime was there on the street to answer. Be it BMC, Mumbai police or any other agency, none took the responsibility and addressed the public.”

On Wednesday, torrential rains across Mumbai led to severe waterlogging and traffic jams in several parts of the city. A landslide was reported at the Mumbra bypass, causing further disruptions. Severe waterlogging was seen in Kurla East, Nehru Nagar, and Chembur, with heavy traffic on Kurla bridge. A landslide at the Mumbra bypass at around 11.30 pm disrupted traffic for more than 3 hours.

In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman drowned in an open drain in the MIDC area of Andheri. On Thursday, Central Railways announced that local train services were restored at Andheri station as water receded after a night of heavy rain.
