PM Modi Chats with Women Beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana in Bhubaneswar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and had a delightful interaction with women beneficiaries of the ‘PM Awas Yojana’ over a cup of tea. The women, now proud homeowners, shared their experiences and work with the Prime Minister.
Interaction Highlights
PM Modi asked one of the women, “What all work do you 10 women do?” She replied, “We work on the mushrooms.” When asked about their earnings, she said, “We earn Rs 10000-15000 per month.” PM Modi affectionately called her “Lakhpati didi.”
Another woman expressed her happiness about PM Modi’s visit and mentioned her stitching work. PM Modi asked if she could make a Kurta like the one he was wearing, to which she replied affirmatively. PM Modi then suggested she stitch one for the Odisha Chief Minister.

Development Projects and Initiatives
Earlier in the day, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 3800 crore in Bhubaneswar. He launched and dedicated several projects to the nation, including the release of the first installment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G in around 14 states.
The Griha Pravesh celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin and Urban) were also held. PM Modi handed over the keys to their houses to PMAY beneficiaries and launched the AWS+ 2024 app for a survey of additional households for PMAY-G. He also introduced the Operational Guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
Launch of ‘Subhdra’ Scheme
PM Modi launched ‘Subhdra,’ the flagship scheme of the Government of Odisha, which is the largest women-centric initiative expected to cover over 1 crore women. Eligible beneficiaries between the ages of 21 and 60 will receive Rs. 50,000 over five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29. On this occasion, PM Modi initiated the fund transfer into the bank accounts of more than 10 lakh women.
