Amit Shah Talks About Jammu and Kashmir Elections and Article 370
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke at an election rally in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls. He emphasized that the election is a contest between the BJP and the alliance of Congress and the National Conference.
Shah highlighted the BJP’s role in abrogating Article 370 and criticized the opposition for their past actions. He said, “The upcoming elections are between two forces. On one hand, you have the BJP which walks on the ideals of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee. It’s clear to us that J&K was and will always be an integral part of India.”
He further asserted that till the time BJP is there no one would be able to remove Article 370. Shah questioned the benefits of Article 370 for various communities in Jammu and Kashmir and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing reservations and conducting panchayat polls.
Shah also praised Modi for strengthening democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and providing free treatment and rice to the people. He questioned the Abdullah family for their lack of similar initiatives during their rule. Shah concluded by stating that the BJP is committed to the development of Jammu region, Rajouri, and Poonch, and aims to eradicate terrorism from the valley.
The Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and November 1, with votes being counted on October 8.
