Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Criticizes West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s Handling of Protest

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 15: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that no one can solve a problem by deceit. This comment came after Banerjee’s surprise visit to a protest site to meet junior doctors and her proposal to hold a meeting at her residence to hear their demands.

However, the meeting was called off because Banerjee refused to do a live telecast of the meeting, citing ongoing legal proceedings in the Supreme Court. Speaking at a press conference, Chowdhury said Banerjee lacks the courage to address the demands made by protesters regarding the rape and murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. He added that while she might try to maneuver around the issue, she would not succeed.

Chowdhury stated, “If someone thinks that we will solve the problem with this deceit, then it is not a solution; rather, it is a substitute for a solution and at the most, it creates complications. We are well aware of the tactics Mamata ji was using yesterday.”

Banerjee requested the doctors to cooperate and assured them of providing a recording of the meeting. She said, “I assure you that whatever recording will be done, it will be given to you. Accept my request and join the meeting. If you people do not want to come to the meeting, then please come inside the residence, have tea and then proceed to leave.”

On Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s remark about resigning from his position after two days, Chowdhury said it was Kejriwal’s will and that if he could be the CM in jail, he could remain the CM outside as well. Chowdhury added, “Maybe there are other matters that are more serious that need to be addressed.”

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced that he will resign from his position after two days and won’t sit on the chair of CM until the public of Delhi declares him “honest.” Kejriwal said that if the public votes for him, it will give him a certificate for his honesty.
