Australia’s Travis Head Reflects on Matthew Short’s Performance in T20I Against England

Australia’s stand-in captain, Travis Head, believes he should have introduced Matthew Short earlier in the attack after their narrow defeat in the second T20I against England. Despite posting a strong total of 193/6, Australia lost by three wickets.

Short’s impressive five-wicket haul (5/22) brought Australia back into the game, but it wasn’t enough. Head commented, “Good score, felt we were in the hunt and got close. Should have bowled him earlier. We know what he’s got to offer, a nice option moving into the next game.”

Another positive for Australia was Jake Fraser-McGurk’s return to form. He scored 50 off 31 deliveries, including four boundaries and two sixes. Head added, “Nice for him (Fraser-McGurk) to get into the series. We didn’t get the win, but that’s okay.”

England’s Liam Livingstone was a major hurdle for Australia, scoring 87 runs with six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 185.11. Short managed to dismiss Livingstone with one run left for a win, but it was too late to change the outcome.
