India and Argentina Hold Important Talks in Buenos Aires
On September 14, India and Argentina held the seventh round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOCs) in Buenos Aires. The discussions were led by Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Leopoldo Francisco Sahores, Argentina’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The last round of these consultations took place in November 2021 in New Delhi. During the meeting, both sides talked about various aspects of their relationship, including politics, trade, healthcare, energy, mining, defense, railways, nuclear, space, agriculture, culture, and consular issues.
The Indian Embassy in Argentina shared on social media that the consultations were comprehensive and covered many important topics. Both countries also discussed regional and global issues of common interest and agreed to increase high-level visits between them. The next round of consultations will be held in New Delhi at a convenient date.
These talks were seen as a chance to review the progress in their bilateral engagements before the upcoming visit of Argentina’s Foreign Minister to India. Argentina’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that India is a very important partner and expressed a desire for a deeper and more intense relationship with India.
