MP Minister Vishvas Sarang Honors Paralympic Medalists Kapil Parmar and Rubina Francis in Bhopal
Madhya Pradesh Sport and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Sarang honored Paris Paralympics medalist Kapil Parmar in Bhopal and announced that separate seat arrangements would be made for para athletes at sports academies in the state.
Kapil Parmar’s Achievement
Kapil Parmar, a resident of Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, created history by winning a bronze medal in Judo at the Paralympics. He defeated Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira in the Men’s J1 – 60 KG category, becoming India’s first-ever Paralympic medalist in Judo.
Rubina Francis’ Achievement
Indian para-shooter Rubina Francis, from Jabalpur, won a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. She became the first Indian woman shooter to secure a medal in the pistol category at the Paralympics.
State Support for Para Athletes
Minister Sarang emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting para athletes by reserving separate seats for them in all 11 sports academies in Madhya Pradesh. He also mentioned plans to launch a talent search to encourage para youth to join sports.
Kapil Parmar expressed his happiness and gratitude towards the sports department and Minister Sarang for their continuous support. He promised to aim for a gold medal in the future and mentioned his commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
