Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Holds Emergency Meeting Due to Heavy Rainfall
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called an emergency meeting on Thursday to review the situation caused by excessive rainfall in the state. The meeting, held at CM House in Bhopal, included divisional commissioners, Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, District Collectors, and Superintendents of Police, who joined via video conferencing.
The state has experienced heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, leading to the opening of several dam gates to release water. Two gates of Kaliyasot Dam and one gate of Bhadbhada Dam in Bhopal were opened on Wednesday. Bhadbhada Dam is built on Bada Talab (upper lake), while Kaliyasot Dam is constructed over the Kaliasot River, a tributary of the Betwa River. Additionally, gates of Tighra Dam near Gwalior were also opened.
According to the Meteorological Office, heavy rain with lightning is expected in Morena, Gwalior, Sheopur Kalan, Shivpuri, Bhind, and Ashoknagar districts in the forenoon hours. Moderate rain with lightning is likely in Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Guna, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Chhatarpur, and Panna districts. Light rain with lightning is expected in Bhopal, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Agar Malwa, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur, Barwani, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Ujjain, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Betul, Seoni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Dindori, Shahdol, Anuppur, Katni, Umaria, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, and Sidhi districts.
The Regional Meteorological Office has issued a red alert for excessive rainfall in Bhind, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, and Sagar districts, with rainfall expected to exceed 204.5mm. An orange alert has been issued for Morena, Sheopur, Gwalior, Datia, Guna, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Damoh, and Panna districts, with rainfall between 115.6mm and 204.4mm. A yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts in the state.
