Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Shine at Hong Kong Open 2024
New Delhi, India – September 10, 2024: Indian badminton players Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have advanced to the round of 16 in the women’s doubles event at the Hong Kong Open 2024. They defeated Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr with scores of 21-14, 21-13.
Next, Treesa and Gayatri will face a challenging match against Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning from the People’s Republic of China, who are silver medallists from the Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, another Indian pair, Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda, lost their match against Hsieh Pei-Shan and Hung En-Tzu of Chinese Taipei with scores of 21-11, 21-8.
Men’s Singles Event
In the men’s singles event, Chirag Sen and Manav Choudhary were eliminated in the qualification round. Chirag won his first match against Canada’s Lai Yin Chung with scores of 21-12, 21-10 but lost to Canada’s Xiaodong Sheng with scores of 12-21, 21-13, 14-21. Manav defeated Ukraine’s Oleksii Titov with scores of 21-14, 21-19 but was later defeated by Chan Yin Chak with scores of 21-6, 21-10.
Men’s Doubles Event
In the men’s doubles event, Vaibhaav and Ashith Surya also faced an early exit, losing to Lui Chun Wai and Kuei Chun Hung of Hong Kong, China with scores of 21-15, 21-9.

Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George will start their men’s singles campaign on Wednesday. In the women’s singles event, Aakarshi Kashyap and Tanya Hemanth will compete in their opening-round matches.
Three Indian pairs will begin their campaigns in the mixed doubles event: B Sumeeth Reddy-N Sikki Reddy, Kona Tarun-Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli, and Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh.
