India to Host ICA General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference in 2024
For the first time in the 130-year history of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), India will host the ICA General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference. This significant event is organized by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) and will be held from November 25 to 30, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Amit Shah, the Minister of Cooperation for the Government of India, will be the Chief Guest at the conference on November 25, 2024. He will also chair the inaugural session of the Global Cooperative Conference.
The decision to host the event in India was made during the ICA Board meeting in Brussels on June 28, 2023, following a proposal by IFFCO. Additionally, a meeting at the United Nations Organisation (UNO) headquarters confirmed that the Global Cooperative Conference in India will mark the official launch of the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (UN IYC2025).
