Doctors Demand Apology from Abhishek Banerjee Over Misleading Post About Boy’s Death

The Joint Platform of Doctors, West Bengal, has demanded an unconditional apology from Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. They allege that Banerjee’s post about a young boy from Konnagar dying due to lack of medical attention during a doctors’ protest is false.

In a letter to Banerjee, the doctors stated that the boy, who suffered from polytrauma due to a road accident, was promptly attended to at RG Kar Medical College. They claim that Banerjee’s statement is misleading and disregards the efforts of medical professionals.

The doctors argue that such misinformation could incite violence against the medical community, which is already under pressure following an attack on a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. They demand that Banerjee issue a public apology and retract his statement to prevent further unrest.

On September 6, Banerjee posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the boy bled for three hours without receiving medical attention due to the ongoing doctors’ protest. The doctors refute this claim, stating that the boy received continuous care until his death.
