Seram Rojesh Condemns Violence in Manipur, Appeals to Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi, India – After recent violent incidents in Manipur, Seram Rojesh, Convener of the Delhi Meitei Coordinating Committee, condemned the attacks. He highlighted that on September 1, Kuki militants used drones to bomb areas in Koutruk, Imphal, resulting in the death of a mother of two. On September 6, long-range missiles were dropped on former Chief Minister Mairembam Koireng’s residence in Bishnupur district.

Rojesh claimed these attacks were part of the Kuki militants’ push for a separate administration. He questioned why state forces and the Indian government allowed such attacks to happen. The Delhi Meitei Coordinating Committee appealed to Prime Minister Modi to visit Manipur and intervene, stating that the militants’ demands should not be allowed.

Rojesh also called for the dismantling of militant bunkers in hilly areas, emphasizing that the attacks are part of a larger project to create an independent Kuki land. He stressed that the integrity of Manipur should be protected and that there are peaceful ways to address demands, citing the example of Telangana’s separation from Andhra Pradesh.

The situation in Manipur remains tense, with Meitei community members unable to leave the foothills and national highways blocked by Kuki militants. Rojesh mentioned that the militants are using various tactics, including water chemical warfare, to terrorize the community.

Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of Ngangbam Surbala Devi, who was killed by Kuki militants. Singh expressed that while financial assistance cannot compensate for the loss of life, it is the government’s responsibility to support affected families during these difficult times.
