Two Brothers Killed in Balochistan: Family Claims Fake Encounter by Pakistani Forces

In the Kalat district of Balochistan, Pakistan, two brothers named Ismail and Habibullah were allegedly killed by Pakistani forces in what their family calls a fake encounter. The brothers, who lived in the Narmak area, were reportedly taken from their home and killed hours later.

According to their family, Ismail and Habibullah, sons of Abdul Nabi Lahri, were innocent civilians who worked in agriculture and manual labor. One of the brothers was also seriously ill, making it unlikely they were involved in militant activities. The family strongly denies the Pakistani forces’ claims that the brothers were terrorists.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, stated that the two men were alleged terrorists killed during an operation near Kalat. They also mentioned recovering a large cache of weapons and ammunition but did not disclose the identities of the deceased.

Human rights organizations, including Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, have expressed deep concern over the incident. Paank stated on social media platform X that the brothers were forcibly detained from their home and later killed in a staged encounter.

This incident has added to the growing accusations of human rights violations in Balochistan, where enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings are frequently reported. Human rights groups are calling for an independent investigation into the deaths of Ismail and Habibullah, demanding accountability for the actions of Pakistani forces. As of now, no further comments have been made by the authorities regarding the family’s allegations.
