Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi Talks About India’s Future and History

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 7: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi spoke at the golden jubilee celebrations of PS Educational Society, emphasizing that India aims to be a developed nation by 2047. He said, “New Bharat is emerging and now it is emerging with a destination, a goal and a resolve that by 2047 we have to be a fully developed nation.”

Ravi highlighted the importance of Sanskrit and the need for multilingual experts, stating, “Sanskrit is a source of your root. It is not that people become Sanskrit literate. It’s a time when we need to have multilingual experts–experts in Sanskrit, Tamil, and English.”

He criticized the British colonial period for attempting to destroy India’s identity and education system. “British government, along with missionaries, tried to destroy the identity of Bharat. To kill the spirit of Bharat, they killed the education system. They took away our treasures and inscriptions. They fabricated history to give a new identity to people in our country. This was a well deliberate attempt,” Ravi said.

Ravi also mentioned the atrocities faced by people from Tamil Nadu during British rule, including forced labor and religious conversion for school admission. “Besides trying to change our identity, that was also a period when they took about a million of our people from this particular place our Tamil Nadu, especially south, as slaves to their colonies, what they call indentured labour. These are yet to be well-researched,” he added.
