The Assam government has announced that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hoist the National Flag in Dibrugarh on Republic Day. This decision follows the establishment of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh. The notification, issued by the Assam General Administration Department, states that this change is in the larger public interest.

On Independence Day, the Chief Minister will continue to hoist the National Flag in Guwahati. The Governor of Assam will hoist the flag in Guwahati on Republic Day at the state-level ceremonial function. If the Governor is unable to do so, the Chief Minister will take over the responsibility in Guwahati and assign a senior minister to hoist the flag in Dibrugarh.

This notification is effective immediately.
