Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Announces Development of Madmaheshwar Dham and Maa Gauri Temple

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced plans to develop Madmaheshwar Dham, the second Kedar of the Panch Kedars, and beautify the Maa Gauri temple located at Gaurikund, the last motor stop of Kedarnath Dham.

Project Details

Harish Gaur, media in-charge of Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), stated that Ramesh Singh Rawat, Under Secretary of the Department of Religious Endowments and Culture, has issued orders to the Director of Culture Department to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for these developments. The Public Works Department has been named as the implementing agency and will work in coordination with BKTC.

Community Impact

BKTC President Ajendra Ajay expressed his gratitude to CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving the plan. He mentioned that the development of Madmaheshwar Dham will attract more devotees and pilgrims, creating new employment opportunities for local residents.

About Madmaheshwar Dham and Maa Gauri Temple

Madmaheshwar Dham is situated at an altitude of 3,497 meters in the Ukhimath development block of Rudraprayag district. Devotees must walk about 14 km to reach the temple, where the navel form of Lord Shiva is worshipped. The Maa Gauri temple is located in Gaurikund, where devotees begin their journey to Kedarnath Dham after visiting the temple. Both temples are managed by BKTC.
