On September 7, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav attended the International Clean Air Day event at the Jaipur International Convention Centre (JECC). During the event, CM Sharma addressed the pressing issue of air pollution, stating, “Air pollution is a big issue today across the world which is affecting the health of human beings. We need to think before causing pollution because it’s the responsibility of all of us.”

He emphasized the importance of reducing pollution from cars and encouraged planting trees to offset pollution. CM Sharma also mentioned the state’s clean air campaign, inspired by the Prime Minister, which has led to the planting of 7 crore saplings. He thanked Sanjay Sharma for his support in making this campaign successful.

CM Sharma highlighted the importance of clean air for health and the need for immediate joint efforts to combat air pollution. He announced the start of 46 Continuous Air Quality Monitoring Systems and the introduction of 1000 electric machines for air pollution control.

The event coincided with the fifth annual International Day of Clean Air for blue skies, which calls for investment in clean air solutions. It was noted that over 99% of humanity breathes polluted air, leading to more than 8 million deaths annually, including over 700,000 children under five. Air pollution is now the second leading risk factor for early death globally.
