BSF and BGB Work Together to Keep Indo-Bangladesh Border Safe
A committee appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) held a meeting to monitor the current situation on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The meeting was led by Ravi Gandhi, ADG of BSF (Eastern Command), and attended by members from the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI).
During the meeting, they discussed the progress of communications with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the safety of minority communities in Bangladesh, especially in bordering districts. Since August 12, 2024, both border guarding forces have had around 722 border meetings and carried out 1367 simultaneous coordinating patrols in vulnerable border areas.
In these meetings, BGB officials were asked to prevent infiltration into India, and BGB assured to take steps for the safety of Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh. Both forces are in constant contact, sharing information on operational matters in real-time.
BSF has also been holding village coordination meetings with Indian villagers along the international border to inform them about the situation in Bangladesh and seek their cooperation in border management. A total of 614 such meetings have been held in the last 15 days, with positive responses from villagers.
Multiple meetings with sister agencies have been held to strengthen border security. The situation on the Indo-Bangladesh border remains peaceful, and BSF is committed to maintaining the sanctity of the international boundary and the safety of the border populace. BSF personnel are on round-the-clock duty, working with BGB under the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP).
