PM Modi Congratulates India’s Paris Paralympics Medalists
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s latest set of Paris Paralympics medalists, calling their achievements the ‘biggest gift to the country.’ Modi spoke with medal winners Harvinder Singh, Kapil Parmar, Pranav Soorma, Sachin Sarjerao Khilari, and Dharambir, congratulating them on their victories.
India’s medal tally at the ongoing Paralympics has reached 26, including six gold medals, nine silver medals, and 11 bronze medals. This is the highest number of gold medals and total medals India has ever won at a Paralympics event, surpassing the previous records set at Tokyo 2020.
Kapil Parmar won a bronze medal in the men’s -60kg J1 contest by defeating Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira. Harvinder Singh secured India’s first-ever gold medal in para-archery by defeating Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek. Sachin Sarjerao Khilari won a silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final with a throw of 16.32 meters.
Dharambir and Pranav Soorma achieved double podium finishes in the men’s club throw F51 final, with Dharambir winning gold and setting a new Asian Record with a throw of 34.92 meters, and Pranav Soorma winning silver with a throw of 34.59 meters.
