Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur Gets Bail After Arrest Warrant

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur received transit bail from the Peshawar High Court on Thursday. The bail plea was heard by a two-member bench, which ordered authorities not to arrest Gandapur in any case registered against him.

Yesterday, a Sessions Court in Islamabad issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Gandapur in connection with a 2016 case where police found weapons and liquor in his car. The judge, Shaista Khan Kundi, denied Gandapur’s request to be excused from appearing due to health reasons, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.

The police claimed to have recovered four Kalashnikovs, ammunition, a tear-gas fire gun, and bulletproof vests from Gandapur’s car on October 30, 2016, at a check post on Rukhsana Bangash road. The weapons were displayed at Bara Kahu police station in Islamabad.
