Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 5: Billionaire Gautam Adani shared his entrepreneurial journey with students at Jai Hind College in Mumbai on Teachers Day. He emphasized resilience, vision, and the power of dreaming big.

Early Life and Challenges

Adani recounted moving to Mumbai at 16 to test his courage and make a life for himself. He highlighted the importance of dreaming big and overcoming mental barriers. He said, “People still ask me, ‘Why did you move to Mumbai? Why did you not complete your education?’ The answer lies in the heart of every young dreamer who sees boundaries not as barriers but as challenges.”

Entrepreneurial Milestones

Adani described Mumbai as his training ground. Between 1985 and 1991, India underwent significant economic changes. In 1991, Adani established a global trading house dealing in polymers, metals, textiles, and agri-products, which became the largest in the country within two years. In 1994, Adani Exports, now Adani Enterprises, launched its IPO, marking a significant milestone.

Mundra Port and Beyond

Adani’s biggest project, Mundra Port, transformed into India’s largest port and industrial hub. He said, “Mundra became my karmabhoomi and made my vision a reality.” He also spoke about his renewable energy project, Khavda, which generates over 3,000 MW of clean energy and aims to reach 30 GW in five years.

Dharavi Redevelopment

Adani discussed the Dharavi redevelopment project, which aims to restore dignity to over one million residents. He said, “Dharavi is not just about urban renewal. It is about restoring dignity to over one million residents of our country.”

Lessons in Resilience

Adani referred to the Hindenburg allegations and the Supreme Court’s vindication. He said, “Breaking real boundaries is not about overcoming external challenges. It is about shattering the mental barriers.” He emphasized that resilience is about rising stronger after every fall.
