Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Celebrates Historic Peace Agreement with NLFT and ATTF

New Delhi [India], September 5: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called the signing of a Memorandum of Settlement between the Centre, state government, and the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) a historic moment.

The Memorandum of Settlement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha among others on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Saha expressed his joy on social media, stating, “A historic moment for Tripura! Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji and benevolent guidance of Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji, the entire North East has been witnessing a new era of peace, prosperity and goodwill. A historic memorandum of settlement has been signed today between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and representatives of NLFT & ATTF in the presence of Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi. Various groups of NLFT and ATTF have decided to join the mainstream for participation in the development journey spearheaded by our Hon’ble Prime Minister. Glad to have witnessed this historic moment. On behalf of the people of Tripura, I also express my heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Home Minister for earmarking Rs. 250 crore for the welfare of the returnees.”

After signing the Memorandum of Settlement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, he had, through peace and dialogue, developed the northeast region. Shah added, “…This is a matter of joy for all of us that after the struggle that was ongoing for 35 years, you (armed groups) have given up weapons and joined the mainstream and expressed your commitment towards the development of the entire Tripura. Ever since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, through peace and dialogue, he developed the Northeast.”

Shah also mentioned that with the signing of the peace pact, more than 300 armed cadres are set to join the mainstream.

All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) -: The All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) is another group that was involved in fighting in Tripura. They have also agreed to stop fighting and join the peace process.

Union Home Minister -: The Union Home Minister is a high-ranking official in the central government of India. They are responsible for internal security and law and order in the country.

Amit Shah -: Amit Shah is the current Union Home Minister of India. He plays a key role in maintaining peace and security in the country.

armed cadres -: Armed cadres are members of a group who carry weapons and are involved in fighting. In this case, they are members of NLFT and ATTF who will now stop fighting and join the mainstream society.

mainstream -: Mainstream means the normal way of life that most people follow. When armed cadres join the mainstream, they stop fighting and start living like regular citizens.

35-year struggle -: The 35-year struggle refers to the long period of conflict and fighting in Tripura involving groups like NLFT and ATTF. This agreement aims to end that conflict and bring peace.
