Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya met with Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani, the Ambassador of Oman to India, to discuss ways to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Dr. Mandaviya shared pictures of their meeting and mentioned that they talked about enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.

“Met with H.E. Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani, Ambassador of Oman to India. We discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and explore collaborative opportunities for mutual growth,” Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya posted on X.

Recent Meetings to Boost Trade

Just a few days earlier, on August 30, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Qais Bin Mohammed Al Yousef. They focused on boosting bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation. Piyush Goyal described the meeting as productive and aimed at unlocking new avenues for growth and deepening the economic partnership between India and Oman.

“Strengthening ties! Had a productive meeting yesterday with my counterpart from Oman, H.E. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef. Discussions focused on boosting bilateral trade, enhancing cooperation, unlocking new avenues for growth, and deepening our economic partnership,” Piyush Goyal posted on X.

India and Oman’s Strong Relationship

Oman is a strategic partner of India and plays an important role in various international organizations like the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The two countries share a long history of warm and cordial relations, with people-to-people contact dating back 5000 years. Diplomatic relations were officially established in 1955 and were upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in 2008. Oman is a key part of India’s West Asia Policy and its oldest regional strategic partner.
