Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Historic Visit to Brunei and Singapore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brunei on September 3, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. He was warmly received by Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah with a ceremonial welcome.

This visit is significant as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei. PM Modi expressed his eagerness to meet Brunei’s ruler, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, and other members of the Royal family to strengthen the historical ties between the two nations.

Following his visit to Brunei, PM Modi will travel to Singapore on September 4. In Singapore, he plans to meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. The focus of these meetings will be on deepening bilateral relations and cooperation in key sectors.
