Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 2: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review of the heavy rainfall and flood situation at the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority office. He emphasized that protecting the lives and property of people is his first priority.

Andhra Pradesh has experienced major devastation due to heavy rainfall over the past three days, with rainfall recorded between 29 cm to 34 cm. This has caused severe disruption, including halted traffic on national highways and the cancellation of numerous train services. The Krishna and Guntur districts have been particularly affected.

Flooding from the Budameru river has submerged several areas, including Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar, forcing nearly two lakh people to seek shelter on the terraces of their buildings. The Chief Minister directed officials to supply food and water to the flood victims immediately.

With Naidu’s personal intervention, officials distributed food packets late into the night, using boats to reach flood-affected regions. Naidu also contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to request that the flood devastation be treated as a natural calamity. In response, the central government deployed 10 NDRF teams, 40 power boats, and six helicopters for rescue operations.

Naidu personally inspected the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada city and supervised the distribution of food packets and relief operations. He assured residents that he would remain in the area until the flood levels recede and normalcy is restored. On social media platform X, he stated, “I visited the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada on the second day. I have personally supervised the assistance provided to the affected people. Public safety is our responsibility. All efforts are being made to bring people out of this unexpected calamity as soon as possible. I wish the affected people to be brave.”

Naidu repeatedly appealed to the public, assuring them that the state government would come to their rescue. He urged officials to adopt a humanitarian approach to increase the confidence levels of people during this crisis.
