Jason Gillespie Explains Why Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah Were Left Out in Test Against Bangladesh

Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Pakistan Test head coach Jason Gillespie shared the reasons behind the exclusion of star bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah from the playing XI in the second Test against Bangladesh. Despite rain interruptions, Bangladesh is just 143 runs away from a historic clean sweep over Pakistan.

Gillespie explained that the team selection was based on an analysis of the pitch conditions. He said, “We looked at conditions and what we thought was the best combination. Taking into account what we saw before the game, reflected on the previous game, and this is where we landed.”

He also highlighted the importance of not relying on individual players and emphasized the need for Shaheen to be at his best. “We want Shaheen Afridi to be at his very best for as much cricket as possible. He is an all-format player, and we have a pretty heavy schedule, and we want him to be fit and firing,” Gillespie added.

Bangladesh ended Day 4 with a score of 42/0, with Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam unbeaten with scores of 31(23)* and 9(19)*, respectively.
