Paris [France], September 2: Indian para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya won a silver medal in the Men’s Discus Throw F56 final at the Paris Paralympics 2024. His best throw was 42.22 meters at the Stade de France. This is his second consecutive Paralympic medal, following his silver at Tokyo 2020 with a throw of 44.58 meters.

Yogesh expressed his determination to win gold in future events. He said, “Will work hard to change the colour of the medal in future. I am aiming for gold next time around as for the last few times I have been winning silver whether it Tokyo Paralympics 2020 or World Para-Athletics Championship or the Asian Games. I won a medal but am not happy as I missed the opportunity to win a gold.”

India has so far won nine medals at the Paris Paralympics, including two gold, three silver, and four bronze medals. Avani Lekhara secured India’s first gold in the women’s 10m air rifle with a personal best of 249.7 points. Manish won silver in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 with 234.9 points. Francis and Preeti both won bronze medals in their respective events. Nishad Kumar also won silver in the men’s high jump T47 with a leap of 2.04 meters. Shuttler Nitesh Kumar added another gold in the men’s singles SL3 category.
