Avani Lekhara Wins Gold and Mona Agarwal Takes Bronze at Paris Paralympics
Chateauroux, France, August 30: Indian shooter Avani Lekhara has won the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle final at the Paris Paralympics. Avani, the reigning Paralympic champion, maintained her winning streak with a score of 249.7 points, her personal best.
Another Indian shooter, Mona Agarwal, secured the bronze medal in the same event with a score of 228.7 points. South Korea’s Yunri Lee won the silver medal with 246.8 points.
Avani expressed her happiness and gratitude, saying, “It feels nice, I am happy. I am happy to win a medal for my country. I am thankful to my team, my coaches, my parents, and my country.”
Mona also shared her thoughts, stating, “It was a difficult final, but I am happy that I could do it. I always had this belief that I would win a medal at Paris 2024. I want to dedicate this medal to my kids.”
India started the Paris Paralympics on a high note by winning two medals in the women’s 10m air rifle event. From the beginning of the final, both Avani and Mona were in the top three positions, aiming for the gold.
