Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren Joins BJP

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], August 30: Champai Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and ex-leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), announced on Friday that he is joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Soren emphasized his commitment to the development of Jharkhand and the welfare of its tribal population.

Reasons for Joining BJP

Champai Soren explained that he had previously posted about the political issues he faced within JMM, a party he helped build. He stated, “Sometimes I thought I would leave politics, then I thought that I would form a new organization or if I find a partner, I would join them for the betterment of Jharkhand. We have got a good partner in the form of BJP. I am going to join BJP today.”

Soren believes that the BJP is the ideal party for advocating tribal welfare. He expressed his faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Recent Political Changes

Earlier, JMM MLA from Ghatshila, Ramdas Soren, took oath as a state cabinet minister, replacing Champai Soren. The oath was administered by Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Raj Bhawan, in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other senior leaders.

Champai Soren had resigned from all posts and primary membership of JMM on August 28. He shared his resignation letter on social media, stating, “Our struggle will continue on the issues of tribals, natives, Dalits, backward people, and common people of Jharkhand.”
