Uttar Pradesh Plans Big Upgrades for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to make the Maha Kumbh Mela of 2025 more grand and divine. To achieve this, they are providing subsidies to transform dhabas, restaurants, and hotels on major routes to offer better facilities for tourists and devotees.

Improving Tourist Experience

Regional Tourism Officer of Prayagraj, Aparajita Singh, stated, “To improve the experience of tourists and devotees visiting Prayagraj, the Yogi government is going to make the major dhabas, restaurants, and hotels located on the main routes smart.”

She added that 75 representatives have been selected to receive online training starting Friday. These include dhabas, restaurants, and hotels on routes connecting Lucknow-Prayagraj, Kanpur-Prayagraj, Rewa-Prayagraj, Chitrakoot-Prayagraj, Mirzapur-Prayagraj, and Varanasi-Prayagraj.

Upgrading Facilities

The selected dhabas, restaurants, and hotels previously lacked basic facilities. The plan includes upgrading kitchens, seating areas, and parking spaces. Representatives are receiving training and government support, including subsidies for transformation.

New Tourism Policy

The state’s new tourism policy aims to elevate religious, spiritual, and cultural tourism alongside agro and eco-tourism. It introduces 22 new activities, such as wellness resorts, heritage homestays, budget hotels, heritage hotels, star hotels, eco-tourism units, caravan tourism, exhibitions, pilgrimages, Dharamshala, all-weather seasonal camps, reservoirs, lakes, wellness tourism, and adventure tourism.

Large dhabas, restaurants, and hotels on major routes are included and are receiving a 25% subsidy on investment amounts.
